SUMMARY:TealHelix Project Kick-Off: A New Era of Sustainability Labelling
DESCRIPTION:On 25-26 September 2024\, the TealHelix project kicked-off with a two-day meeting in Leuven\, bringing together experts to shape the future of sustainability labelling. The project is focused on creating more personalised and inclusive labelling systems to help consumers\, especially vulnerable groups\, make better-informed sustainability choices. \nTealHelix aims to revolutionise labelling by tailoring it to individual needs and preferences\, empowering consumers to make decisions that align with sustainability goals. Using tools like life cycle analysis and consumer behaviour insights\, the project will test new labelling methods in both digital and physical retail environments. From traditional labels to AI-powered smart labels\, these innovations will make sustainability information clearer and more accessible. The project will also establish long-term standards to ensure transparency and trust across the industry. \nThe kick-off brought together professionals from fields like marketing\, environmental sciences\, and digital innovation to set the project’s course. Day 1 focused on project management\, coordination\, and exploring external factors influencing consumer behaviour. Sessions led by partners such as White Research and KU Leuven explored how culture and socio-economic factors shape sustainability decisions. \nDay 2 included discussions on data requirements for the project’s digital tools and how to integrate these with the latest technologies\, including 2D codes and AI-driven solutions. Experts shared insights on how to motivate consumers to engage with sustainability information and how these innovations will be tested across various retail settings. \nThe meeting ended with a collaborative session on linking sustainability dimensions with technological advancements\, laying the foundation for TealHelix’s future innovations in labelling. \nWith this strong start\, TealHelix is set to lead the way towards smarter\, more sustainable choices for all!
